“Stillness, Divide My Dream:Choral Music of William Hawley”Friday, October 1, 2010 - St. Mark's Cathedral, Seattle Saturday, October 2, 2010 - Bastyr Chapel at Bastyr University, Kenmore The season kicks off with the music of one of America’s great choral composers, William Hawley. Choral Arts will perform many of Hawley’s best-loved works for unaccompanied chorus and will present the world premiere of O Remember, a cycle of songs for chorus, flute, viola and harp based on texts by Louise Bogan. William Hawley will be in attendance for these performances and will participate in an informal dialogue with the audience following each program.
“Christmas with Choral Arts”Friday, December 17, 2010 - Christ Episcopal, Tacoma Saturday, December 18, 2010 - Trinity Episcopal, Seattle Sunday, December 19, 2010 - Trinity Episcopal, Seattle Pianist Libby Watrous returns to perform with Choral Arts in its signature program for the season. This unique collage concert includes chant, traditional carol settings, unaccompanied choral favorites and new works to create a reflective and peaceful hour of music. This program is an oasis of calm beauty in the midst of a hectic holiday season!
"De Profundis"Friday, March 18, 2011 - St. Mark's Cathedral, Seattle Saturday, March 19, 2011 - St. Leo Church, Tacoma This concert features the world premiere of Traveling Home: An American Requiem by William Averitt, Choral Arts’ 2010-2011 Composer-in-Residence, as well performances of De Profundis by Arvo Pärt, Lamentations of Jeremiah by Alberto Ginastera and Quatre motets pour un temps de penitence by Francis Poulenc.
“Against Forgetting: Music In Memory of the Holocaust”Friday, May 20, 2011 - St. Mark's Cathedral, Seattle Saturday, May 21, 2011 - Bastyr Chapel at Bastyr University, Kenmore You will not want to miss this concert of remembrance, featuring works by Gyorgy Sviridov , Gustav Mahler and Ralph Vaughan Williams. The program will also include premieres of commissioned works by Giselle Wyers and Eric Barnum and a performance of John Muehleisen’s moving When All is Done for chorus and trumpet. Composers will be present for these performances.
