Choral Arts welcomes
Matthew Arnold
Matthew comes to Choral Arts after serving as the Executive Director for the Columbus Gay Men's Chorus in Ohio for the past four years. Matthew brings over ten years of experience in organizational development and community outreach in the performing arts. His passion for the arts and strong nonprofit management background will be of great value to Choral Arts as the organization continues to grow and further develop its outreach programs.
Matthew holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Communications from Capital University, Columbus, OH (graduated cum laude), a Master’s in Business Administration from Ohio Dominican University, where he focused on non-profit and governmental management, and was an Executive Fellow at the Academy for Leadership and Governance in Columbus, OH.
"It is a distinct honor and privilege to have been selected as Managing Director for the esteemed Choral Arts ensemble. Choral Arts is poised to take a large step forward in its development, and I look forward to assisting with the growth of the organization. I am enthusiastic about working with all of the individuals who make this organization the premier choir that it is today."
– Matthew Arnold, Choral Arts Managing Director
Matthew and his partner, Dr. Michael Ramsey, along with their two canine children, recently relocated to Seattle from Columbus and currently reside in the Leschi area. Dr. Ramsey is a Child Psychiatrist at Overlake Hospital Medical Center in Bellevue. They are enjoying learning about all that Seattle and the Pacific Northwest have to offer and look forward to experiencing the many facets of the arts community in the region.
"This past year, Choral Arts commissioned and premiered four new works, released through the Loft/Gothic label the critically acclaimed CD Mornings Like This, and received two national awards, the Margaret Hillis Award for Choral Excellence and the American Prize in choral performance by a community chorus. In this context, Choral Arts conducted an extensive national search for the person who could best assist us in developing our growing national reputation while still nurturing Choral Arts' extensive roots within the Pacific Northwest. That person is Matthew Arnold."
- Mark Leen, Choral Arts Board President
